I ran into my secondary school classmate today. He was not looking good. Drugs and smoking written all over him.
After pleasantries he said, "Show me the way na. Update me."
I remembered him as one of the best students in our class. He even gained admission before me. So I asked for his CV.
You needed to see the look he gave me.
"I dey talk about update you dey talk about CV. You know how much I dey chop every month for street?"
I told him plainly. I am not a Yahoo boy and I do not have that kind of update.
Full story: he dropped out after someone linked him to a Yahoo house in Ghana. Two years there. Made money, came back to Nigeria and Blew it. Now he is broke and looking for money to smoke.
One of the brightest in our class.
The street does not build you. It borrows you a lifestyle and comes back to collect with interest.
Above all, love God.
Stop waiting to be chosen. Be the one who reaches out, texts first, calls first, makes plans first. Connection only works when someone takes initiative.
It's been a very engaging workshop discussing smart grid integration for Nigerian utilities, digital technology, the draft grid modernization framework, and the possibilities of implementing a smart grid pilot projects in Kano.
Very innovative work by WEC and their partners, with support from UKPACT
