AI took over half of Ikea's customer service. But instead of cutting headcount, Ikea took the 8,500 people previously in those positions and reskilled them into virtual interior design advisors. They were already experts in the inventory and customer base, so it was a natural progression.
Diana Wolfe explains that, with this move, they were able to unlock $1.4 billion from a business line they thought they would never be able to pursue, showing that investing in people instead of replacing them can have massive upsides for your business.

About this... I recently built an app called Audit Nigeria, it's a super-fast digital accountant for elections. It reads handwritten paper result sheets, converts them into clean data, and instantly flags any math errors or mismatches so the public can spot discrepancies.
Building a multi-agent system of this scale requires world-class training. Massive thanks to Andela (@Andela) for the incredible opportunity, skills, and advanced AI architecture knowledge given to me during the AI Engineering Bootcamp to make the Audit Nigeria platform a reality
When the election moves to the courtroom, vibes don't win cases, bulletproof data does. The platform serves as an ironclad legal tool for tribunals, compiling certified, court-ready statistical discrepancy profiles to challenge any flawed results.
Deploying agents to all 176,846 polling units is a massive logistical nightmare that smaller or resource-constrained political parties often can't pull off. Audit Nigeria levels the playing field, tracking data across boundaries even if a party had no eye on the ground.
This isn't a closed-door system; it’s a social tool for the public. By putting this data into an open, dynamic dashboard, it empowers citizens to act as the ultimate auditors. If there’s an alleged mishap or inflation of numbers, the public catches it instantly.
Can citizens legally do this? Yes! Under Section 60 and 62 of the Electoral Act 2022, and INEC Paragraph 37 Regulations, results must be announced and publicly pasted (Form EC60E) at the unit. Capturing and archiving this public data is a fully backed civic right.
The power is in the numbers: the more citizens upload copies of the exact same result sheet from a polling unit, the better the AI can verify data integrity. Crowdsourced evidence makes it impossible for anyone to swap or alter sheets downstream without getting flagged.
Using this tool is incredibly simple for citizens. Once voting and counting are completed at your polling unit, you just need to take a clear photo of the signed and stamped EC8A result sheet and upload it directly onto the app. No technical skills required.
How does it work? I use advanced AI (Optical Character Intelligence) that reads messy, handwritten ink on physical EC8A forms just like a human eye would but thousands of times faster. It turns blurry paper scans into clean, unalterable digital data in minutes.
When you were building your 2 bedroom bungalow, you didn't ask for "just a bricklayer". You looked for an architect, quantity surveyor, structural engineer, electrician, plumber, carpenter...
Now you want to build an enterprise app, what makes you think you need "just a coder"?
BREAKING: The Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed a bill to establish free sanitary pad banks in schools, correctional facilities, and community centres throughout the state. The initiative will help improve hygiene for adolescent girls, women, and female inmates during their menstrual periods.
