@umberghauri @coolartcorner Yes, I can agree that law does not mean it’s always followed, hell there’s crimes happening right now, and I also agree with paying fair wages. I consider these people to be as much of an artist as I am, and I personally believe they should be paid as such

I do not buy into Shein or similar businesses because I am more than aware of their factory practices. This is why i chose the manu I work with, because I am well aware of their factory practices

@umberghauri @coolartcorner While it’s not a guarantee everyone will do their research before working with one, Alibaba at the very least makes it easier to find/source ethical manufacturing

@umberghauri @coolartcorner but Alibaba is globally the largest website for connecting businesses to manufacturers, and where a lot, if not all, artists go to find manufacturers. Alibaba gives an extensive overview of the manus, as well as their certifications, hours, etc.

@umberghauri @coolartcorner I personally work with a manufacturer because they have access to resources and materials I do not. This is the case for a majority of artist that utilize manufacturing. Also, manufacturing done locally does not equal manufacturing done ethically.

If you actually did anything in this space you'd know that we comply with China's extensive worker rights all the time. If you ever try to talk to a rep past 5pm CN or order anywhere close to their mandatory 2 week holiday for Chinese New Year, you've felt their labor laws.
