Tied at 3 in the second quarter against the Lions at RFK, #Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs replaces ineffective starting quarterback Jay Schroeder with Doug Williams.
Williams — who 11 weeks later would be named the MVP of Super Bowl XXII — immediately leads #HTTR on two scoring drives en route to a 20-13 victory.
