Paul Skenes is an awesome human in case anyone was wondering.
He was driving by the Ingomar Franklin Park Little League baseball fields last night and saw the lights on and just pulled on in.
He was there over 2 hours signing, taking pictures and playing catch with the kids.
Several Browns players hosted the first-ever "Cleveland for Christ" event in Berea. The event featured worship music, public testimonies, prayer, and baptisms.
This isn’t for everybody…
But boy am I dreading travel baseball this summer.
Way too many non-baseball people coaching.
No feel for the game. Loud voices. No baseball etiquette. No understanding of arm care. Treating every game like Game 7.
Baseball people know.
I'll never forget this as long as I live.
I was 8.
The bases were loaded & I was up to bat.
It was coaches pitch & my dad was pitching to me.
I smashed a line drive up the middle & sprinted to first. When I looked up the short stop had caught it & I was out.
I started crying.
My dad instantly came over & knelt by me looking me straight in the eye.
"Ty, you have 2 choices now:"
1) Wipe your tears immediately, go encourage your teammates & play as hard as you can the rest of the game.
Be a VICTOR.
2) Feel sorry for yourself, cry, make excuses & sit on the bench. Be a VICTIM.
My dad didn't say it wasn't fair:
-If the bases weren't loaded he wouldn't have been playing up the middle & caught it.
-He coulda pitched it better.
-It was just unlucky.
Because none of that matters.
You made an out. Now CHOOSE what you'll do next.
I wanted to be a professional athlete.
Should I sit around all day feeling sorry for myself I wasn't born 6'8 & freakishly athletic & privileged like LEBRON JAMES?!
Life's never fair & what does fair even mean?!
Your job is to DISCOVER THE TALENTS & GIFTS GOD BESTOWED ON YOU & MAXIMIZE THEM!!
Victim or Victor. You choose & know you can never be both!
Went to a HS game yesterday. Had a D1 coach come meet me there to watch a kid.
During the game, the team’s catcher would sprint to his position every inning.
He’s an underclassman, the D1 coach wasn’t there for him, he is now on that coaches radar.
Some things preached at every level -
▪️sprint to your spot between innings
▪️show off your arm in between innings
▪️serious throws in the INF/OF and as a catcher
You can be 0-3 and still make an impression
