There is an actual theory in political science called the nuclear peace theory or deterrence theory.

I always found it valid.

But you’d have to have a lot of faith that nuclear-armed state actors are rational. I think Iran is more measured and rational than the west has been lately. Maybe we need to denuclearize Israel instead?
