Our Senior Editor Elizabeth Corner sits down with Shola Adekeye, Global Head of Upstream, KBC A Yokogawa Company to discuss Shola’s recent article for Oilfield Technology, entitled ‘Operational optimisation under capital discipline’.
The article, which is published in the January/February 2026 issue of Oilfield Technology, explores how upstream operators are maximising asset performance, improving production efficiency, and making better capital decisions in an increasingly constrained investment environment.

Have you watched the latest Oilfield Technology Spotlight Interview with KBC A Yokogawa Company? https://t.co/edCYw3ue28
In this interview, we discuss:
• How capital discipline is reshaping upstream investment strategies and approaches to value creation.
• What ‘doing more with less’ means in practice for operations teams working across wells, networks, and facilities.
• The shift from digitalisation as a technology initiative to a core production strategy. Where production efficiency gains of 2.5 - 10% are typically realised across upstream systems.
• The impact of real-time and near real-time visibility on operational decision-making.
• The role of AI in upstream operations, and where physics-based models remain essential.

Are your subsea control systems approaching end of life — or just entering a new phase?
Many offshore assets rely on control systems that were never designed to operate for decades. Yet replacing them entirely is costly, complex, and often unnecessary. Today’s operators are asking:
• Can existing controls equipment be restored to like-new performance?
• Is it possible to introduce new technology without replacing legacy systems?
• How can old and new control technologies safely coexist?
• And how do you make upgrade decisions with confidence, not compromise?
Join Proserv’s upcoming webinar to discover the answers. There will also be a live Q&A session at the end for any additional questions.

O₂ transport infrastructure is reshaping the future value of upstream assets.
Large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) is no longer peripheral to oil and gas: it is increasingly shaping the future value of subsurface assets. As depleted fields become CO₂ storage sites, there’s much to consider concerning reservoir integrity, injection strategy, repurposed pipeline infrastructure, pressure management, and long-term liability.
Our sister magazine, @WorldPipelines, warmly invites you to the World Pipelines - CCSForum on 18 March, in London.
This one-day event focuses on the practical realities of building and scaling CO₂ pipeline infrastructure in the UK – the very networks that will connect storage licences to emitters and bolster commercial models.
Speakers at the conference include: Baker Hughes, Carbon Capture and Storage Association, CRC Evans, DNV, Holcim UK, Heidelberg Materials, National Gas, NECCUS, Peritus International, Penspen, Peak Cluster, Petrofac, SGN, Teknos, United Infrastructure Ltd, Wood and more.

Oilfield Technology joined Offshore Technical Compliance LLC for an article titled ‘OTC GreenLight Becomes the World’s First DNV-Qualified Digital Pressure Testing System’.
The DNV-RP-A203 technology qualification process included describing the technology and identifying all non-novel and novel aspects. The digital pressure testing technology enables us to predict the future behaviour of the pressure curve. This capability is extremely novel, and was therefore one of the main areas of focus. Real and simulated field data were shared, and the software was witnessed by DNV working in the field.
