NOT SHOCKING: HAMAS DEATH-TOLL A LIE

A widely cited Lancet Global Health study estimated around 75,200 violent deaths in Gaza during the war.

Now, two demographers — Prof. Sergio DellaPergola of Hebrew University and Dr. Mark Zlochin — are warning that the study may contain serious methodological flaws.

According to their critique, the problems include:
• Double counting of deaths
• Interviewers covering only small parts of assigned areas
• Survey teams repeatedly working in the same areas
• Homes along main roads being sampled while side streets were largely missed
• One interviewer team recording around a quarter of all reported violent deaths
• Quality-control systems failing to catch major irregularities

Their bottom line:
population-level mortality estimates are only as reliable as the sample behind them.

If the sample was not truly representative, the headline number should be treated with caution.

Trevor Noah is exactly right. Random athletes, musicians, or citizens of a country cannot be expected to answer for their governments.

I only wish he would apply this analysis to Israel, at a time when not only Israelis but Jews around the world are being attacked supposedly as “criticism of the government.”

I’m all for representation of Palestinians, but Prada posting a video to their 33M+ followers of their new “Palestinian ambassador” Saint Levant wearing a necklace shaped like the entire land with Israel erased, that’s a message.

If an Israeli, or any Jew, wore a pendant that included Gaza, the outrage would be instant. But erasing Israel, “from the river to the sea,” gets a luxury campaign.
