Michaels was a big reason why Western Michigan won the NCAA title last year. Really competitive. Good support player who gets the puck where it needs to be. Can drive the play under pressure.
Skating needs work. I'm not sure he's more than an AHLer.
The #Oilers have signed @WMUHockey's Owen Michaels to a one-year entry-level contract starting this season! ✍️ Learn more about the forward ⤵️

@leepre24 I should have provided more clarity with the stats. They were mediocre-bad defensively w/o McDrai but they were the WORST in the league offensively w/o them. These moves do not help that, if anything they just might make it worse🤷🏻♂️
The Oilers made some tangible upgrades on defence but have completely neglected their need for offensive depth ahead of the trade deadline!

Jason Dickinson, reportedly acquired by EDM, is a shut-down centre. Works hard, great stick, some physicality, has done very well in tough deployment in CHI this season. Little offence except a sneaky good curl and drag wrister from range. #LetsGoOilers
I gave Jason Dickinson a third-place Selke Trophy vote in 2023-24. He was dynamite for Chicago that season:
When Dickinson was on the ice at 5-on-5, the Blackhawks had a +9 goal differential. When he wasn't on the ice, they had a -95 differential.
A 104-goal difference on a rebuilding team that finished with only 52 points. He drew the toughest competition of any forward on the team too. True third-line shutdown center, top penalty killer. I imagine that's the role he'll play in Edmonton. #Blackhawks
