I’ve just watched heartbreaking reports on NTV from Turkana, where children are suffering from malnutrition due to drought.

Yet my people, this raises a serious national question.

In Nyandarua and Narok, a sack of potatoes you see on the left pic below, is selling for as low as KSh 4,000.
Maize is going for between KSh 30 and KSh 70 per kilo.

So how is it possible that parts of the same country are starving to the point that food has to be imported?

Why can’t counties buy surplus food from other counties and feed their own people?
Why don’t we focus more on boreholes and long-term water solutions in drought-prone areas instead of repeating food donations every year?

Kenya has food.
What seems to be missing is coordination, planning, and accountability.

Hunger should never be seasonal, political, or strategic.

Let Turkana County purchase potatoes and maize from other counties and deliver them to their people in Turkana
