Thank you once again, @AlistairBurtUK, for taking the time yesterday to meet with me, my son and @margieOBE. I truly appreciate your willingness to listen and engage with our concerns.

During our meeting, I explained how the DSS allegedly falsified my husband Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's medical records and how the medical practitioner whose independent assessment differed from the official account was reportedly assaulted. Despite concerns about his health, he was declared fit to stand trial.

My husband is an exceptionally resilient man. Even when he is in significant pain, he has always chosen to remain composed and dignified rather than reveal his suffering and has constantly said to the consular officials that he is ok on the contrary - partly because they don't do much about it. I fear that this extraordinary strength has too often been mistaken for good health.

I would therefore like to bring to your attention his recent petition to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), in which he states that his life remains in danger and raises serious concerns about his medical care while in detention.

At this stage, I respectfully ask that his health and wellbeing be treated as a matter of utmost urgency. Whatever the legal proceedings, no British citizen should be placed in a position where concerns about access to proper medical care remain unresolved.

On the issue of transferring Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from Sokoto Correctional Centre to Abuja.....

The application was heard before Justice James Omotosho. On **8 December 2025**, Justice Omotosho **refused the ex parte application**, holding that such an order could not be granted without first hearing the Federal Government.
The matter later returned to court, where the application was ultimately struck out after the lawyer from the Legal Aid Counsel sought to withdraw from the case. - Legal Aid counsel provided by the court instead Mazi #NnamdiKanu representing himself.

For the record, I have consistently advocated from the very first day for my husband, Mazi #NnamdiKanu, to be transferred from Sokoto Correctional Centre. My concern was never political. It was humanitarian, legal and practical. Sokoto is over 700 kilometres from Abuja, making family visits, legal consultations and access to his case unnecessarily difficult. While I was pursuing every available diplomatic and consular avenue to facilitate his transfer, my husband independently applied to the Federal High Court to be moved from Sokoto to Abuja so that he could better prepare and file aspects of his own case. On 8 December 2025, Justice James Omotosho rejected that application, ruling that such an order could not be made without first hearing the Federal Government. Despite that setback, I continued pressing for his transfer through official channels. Eventually, I received confirmation from our case handler at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) that arrangements had been made for the transfer to proceed. It was at that point that I was informed that my husband had declined to be moved from Sokoto. Naturally, I wanted to understand why. Following my insistence, it was relayed to me that he believed the earlier rejection of his own application had been manipulated. From his perspective, there was no legitimate reason for the court to have refused his request in the first place. Because of that, he decided to remain in Sokoto rather than accept a transfer that came through a different process. His position, as it was communicated to me, was that if he was eventually to regain his freedom, he preferred to go directly home from Sokoto. People are free to agree or disagree with that decision. My purpose in sharing this is simply to clarify the sequence of events, because there has been considerable speculation over the months. My own position never changed. From day one, I believed that transferring him to Abuja was in his best interests - for his safety, his welfare, his access to legal representation and his family's ability to visit him. I pursued that objective consistently until I was informed that he had chosen otherwise.

Our next campaign is to bring him home.
