The KWASU Alumni Association is thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the 4th student union president, Mr. Lawal Azeez Okikiola, a distinguished alumnus and Medical Laboratory Scientist. His groundbreaking work has illuminated the global stage, earning him the prestigious Best Abstract Poster Research Presenter Award at the just-concluded ECOWAS Lassa Fever International Conference in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

This well-deserved accolade recognizes Okiki’s innovative 2024 research, "Exploring the Preparedness and Response Capacity of Healthcare Facilities in Nigeria to Lassa Fever Outbreak", which has made significant strides in bolstering Nigeria's defenses against this persistent viral hemorrhagic fever. As a serial volunteer, astute researcher, and dedicated torchbearer in the battle against infectious diseases, Okiki is not just contributing data he's etching his legacy into the annals of public health history with cutting-edge insights that transcend borders.

In the just concluded ECOWAS Lassa fever international conference @ECOWAS_LIC , I got a round trip scholarship and was awarded Best Abstract Presenter.

This idea of this project started in 2022 as an undergraduate student in Kwara State University @KwasuOfficial. 1/3

I got this award based off my study on the preparedness and response capacity of healthcare facilities to Lassa fever outbreak.
It was a dialogue of world leaders from @NCDCgov, @AfricaCDC, and @CEPIvaccines, and I am happy to have represented my University @KwasuOfficial
