Imagine that China launched a color revolution in Mexico.

They inspired a coup and backed it up with mercenaries and their own special forces. They overthrew the pro-US Mexican government and replaced it with a puppet pro-China one.

They then flooded the country with weapons, spies and military advisors. Then they had the new Mexican government start shelling American enclaves in Mexico with artillery.

The United States would invade.

There's no question of that. If a major world power launches a coup in your friendly, neighboring country and arms the nation to the teeth and then starts to kill off your own citizens who live there, you're GONNA ATTACK THEM.
