Celebrating My Eldest Brother at 75
Today, 30th August 2026, I celebrate my eldest brother, Dominic Ositadimma Obi, who turns 75. I celebrate him not merely because he is my elder brother or because of his age, but because he is an exemplary human being.
When I was Governor of Anambra State for eight years, he never came to my office or the Governor’s Lodge for a day seeking favours, as many might have expected. He is a planner and contractor who builds homes for people, yet not once did he ask me for a government contract.
Whenever we met, he would warmly embrace me and tell me that he was fine. He would then solemnly remind me to keep doing what I promised the people and never bring a bad name to the family and my community. He would tell me that whatever difficulties he was going through, many others were worse off, and that I should do my best for society.
I later came to understand that this was not peculiar to him alone. My family members had actually held a meeting and resolved that none of them would take advantage of my position as Governor. They decided that whatever good name I was building for the Obi family and Agulu must be protected. The same principle extended to my children.
Today, at 75, my beloved brother remains deeply concerned about Nigeria. Whenever we speak, he is full of prayers and good wishes. He constantly reminds me that if I have the opportunity to serve Nigeria, I should do so with honesty, integrity, and the interest of the people at heart.
Brother Dom, I thank God for the gift of your life and for the example you have set for our family. Your integrity, humility, contentment, and sense of responsibility are qualities worthy of celebration.
May God Almighty, who has graciously been with you all these years, grant you good health, His abundant grace, and blessings.
Happy 75th birthday, my dearest brother. -PO

'Restoring the Dignity of Man': My Address at the UNN Alumni Conference in Birmingham
After a fruitful visit to Birmingham, during which I gained additional insight into how universities function and promote inclusive excellence, I joined the University of Nigeria Alumni Association, UK, at their 8th Annual Conference on the theme “Restoring the Dignity of Man through Building an Equitable, Inclusive, and Compassionate Society.”
In my keynote address at the event, I emphasised that leadership failure remains the greatest threat to human dignity and national progress in Nigeria. Our Human Development Index, a critical measure of development, is in decline. We are ranked very low in most indices of human development—security of life and property, rule of law, and basic education—with about 20 million out-of-school children.
The situation in healthcare is equally dire: our critical health workforce is depleted, hospitals are under-equipped, and basic medical treatment is beyond the reach of the poor. Our poverty rate is increasing at a worrisome level, with the latest World Bank report stating that we now have 139 million people living in poverty, a huge rise from just two years ago. Nigeria is now counted among the hungriest nations, with millions unsure of where their next meal will come from.
To restore the dignity of Nigerians and build an equitable, inclusive, and compassionate nation demands collective responsibility. Leaders must eschew corruption and govern with integrity, transparency, and empathy—investing deliberately in critical areas of human development. Our citizens must also review the leadership selection process to ensure that only qualified individuals with character, competence, and compassion are entrusted with public office.
Together, we can build a new Nigeria where opportunities match skills; where the security of life and property is guaranteed; and where every citizen can live with pride, dignity, and purpose.
This is the Nigeria we deserve — and it is POssible. -PO

Peter Obi stands out among all the candidates as the test. None of the candidates can match him in any way. - Bitrus Pogu (Leader of the Middle Belt Forum)
The Fish Magnet: We Must Not Allow Lawlessness to Thrive
Today, I paid a condolence visit to Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi to commiserate with her over the painful tragic loss of her beloved son, Ifesinachi Onyekere, Managing Director of Fish Magnet Outlet.
Ifesinachi was a promising young Nigerian SME entrepreneur based in Awka. Tragically, he was kidnapped and later killed by yet-to-be-identified criminals, who abandoned his remains in Amawbia. This shocking and senseless act of violence is a painful reminder of the worsening insecurity in our society.
We must all raise our voices to strongly condemn such heinous acts. I call on our security agencies to thoroughly investigate this brutal murder and bring the perpetrators to justice. Our society must not become a haven for lawlessness. We must all work together - government, community, and citizens alike - to build a safer, more secure Nigeria.
May God, in His infinite mercy, grant eternal rest to Ifesinachi Onyekere, and may He give his family the strength and fortitude to bear this heartbreaking loss. -PO
I, Aisha Yesufu can confirm that Mr Peter Gregory Obi has always said he would do just a term even before the 2023 election. I used to argue with him that one term is not enough and he can’t just refuse to contest. Infact I told him on several occasions while we were campaigning in 2022 that the people will not allow him to do just a term. He would use Nelson Mandela as example. He would explain that if one was ready to really work that a term was more than enough!
Early this year, I went back to him to ask If he truly meant what he said about doing just a term. Many from the north had shown concern over support for Peter Obi might lead to an extra 4 years for the south. I told him that I was going to speak of his promise to do one term only publicly and I needed his confirmation on doing a term as my integrity mattered to me and I wouldn’t want to say something and it turns out not to be so.
Mr Peter Obi once again gave me his word that he was going to do only one term.
My One-Term, Four-Year Vow Is Sacrosanct
One of the greatest American Presidents, Abraham Lincoln, served only four years, yet his legacy endures as a model of principled leadership. Another iconic figure, John F. Kennedy, did not even complete a full term, yet his vision and ideals continue to inspire generations. In Africa, Nelson Mandela, revered globally as a symbol of justice and reconciliation, chose to serve only one term as President of South Africa, despite immense public pressure to stay longer. His decision was a deliberate act of leadership, a statement that power must serve the people, not the self. Indeed, history shows that the longer many African leaders remain in power, the more likely they are to be corrupted by it. Longevity in office is not a mark of success; rather, it is purposeful, accountable service - however brief - that defines true statesmanship.
It is within this context that I reiterate my vow: I will serve only one term of four years if elected President. And that vow is sacrosanct.
I am fully aware that the decay in our society has made trust one of the scarcest and most sceptically viewed commodities. Many Nigerians, understandably, no longer take politicians at their word. But even in this climate of cynicism, there are still a few whose actions have matched their words - whose integrity is built on verifiable precedent.
Recently, I became aware of two statements aimed, albeit indirectly, at my vow to serve only a single four-year term. One person remarked that even if I swore by a shrine, I still wouldn’t be believed. Another suggested that anyone talking about doing only one term should undergo psychiatric evaluation.
I understand the basis of their scepticism. They are judging me by their own standards - where political promises are made to be broken. But they forget, or perhaps choose to ignore, that Peter Obi is not cut from that cloth. I have a verifiable track record that speaks louder than speculation.
In my political life, my word is my bond. When I entered politics in Anambra State, I made clear and measurable promises to the people: to improve education and healthcare, to open up rural areas through road construction, and to manage public funds with prudence. I fulfilled each of those promises without deviation. I did not swear by a shrine, nor have I been certified mentally unstable as a result of honouring my word.
My vow to serve only one term of four years is a solemn commitment, rooted in my conviction that purposeful, transparent leadership does not require an eternity.
If making such a promise qualifies me for psychiatric evaluation, then we may as well question the mental fitness of those who framed our Constitution, which clearly stipulates a four-year renewable tenure.
I maintain without equivocation: if elected, I will not spend a day longer than four years in office. In fact, I believe that service should be impactful, not eternal.
We must rebuild trust in our country. I have dedicated my public life to demonstrating that leadership with integrity is not a myth. I have done it before, and I do not intend to betray that trust under any circumstances.
Forty-eight months is enough for any leader who is focused and prepared to make a meaningful difference. In that time, I intend not merely to make an impression, but to deliver on concrete promises to:
sanitise our governance system;
tackle insecurity through effective and accountable use of national resources; prioritise education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation;
catalyse small businesses as engines of growth ; and combat corruption with unflinching resolve.
Above all, I will dedicate myself to transforming Nigeria from a consuming nation into a productive one, where agriculture, technology, and manufacturing replace rent-seeking and waste as our national anchors.
These are not utopian dreams. They are realistic, actionable goals that are achievable within four years.
A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO
We’re doing everything possible to enlighten our people about the dangers of the APC and how its failed policies are destroying the country and threatening our unity.
2027 will be different!!!
1. Only a coalition can defeat Tinubu. No single party or candidate can win alone.
2.A coalition is not a dictatorship. Peter Obi will need to contest for the presidential ticket, and we will support him with our time and resources to ensure he wins.
3. If Peter Obi loses fairly, we support the coalition. If he is beaten in a free and fair primary which he himself accepts, we will back the coalition’s chosen candidate.
4. If the process is corrupt, we will not participate. If Peter Obi exposes manipulation or malpractice, we will not lend our support to such a coalition.
5. If Peter Obi is offered and accepts a VP slot, we support it. One foot in power is better than being completely outside the system (it positions him for the future)
6. Respect other parties. Stop attacking or undermining other forces in the coalition. Even Tinubu, who claimed to be a democrat (but turned out to be a scam), joined hands with a military general to gain power.
7. Nigerian politics is complex. We tried in 2023, but passion alone is not enough. Building alliances and strategic partnerships is the only path to victory.
