What are we even doing as a nation, Nigeria? Why are the leaders so detached from the people’s pain? What sort of individualistic , selfish people are we? An average middle class family cannot afford eggs, the cheapest source of protein for a growing child.

An egg , ONE egg is sold #400. It will cost #1200 to give your 3 kids eggs. Fish and meat is unreachable. Children are beginning to show signs of malnutrition in our country and we are not in wartime.

Fuel price increased, cooking gas increased, electricity tariff for the non-existent light increased, school fees increased. People have resorted to charcoal and sawdust stoves to cook . And that is getting even expensive. We keep adjusting our expectations and conforming to lower levels of living. Almost scavenging like animals.

I pity us Nigerians, truly my heart bleeds for the people. They are the ones watching their kids go to bed hungry and eaten up by mosquitoes and the unbearable heat. They are the ones that cannot afford a roof over their heads. They are still the ones getting killed , raped and kidnappped.

This is so barbaric and sad. How do you subject your own people to sub-human levels of suffering while you feast fat on their collective wealth. Nigeria has been repeatedly failed by her leaders in every strata. Other countries are advancing, while we are finding new levels of suffering to impose on the people and taking us back to the Stone Age. You should bow your head in shame if you still have any. Has his life not been threatened before? Was he not shot at? Did a sitting governor not threaten him? What is his crime? That he is opposition? Is he the only opposition? Every country in politics has opposition? Why is it considered a threat in Nigeria? Is it the man himself? These are the questions that we should ask ourselves if only we have not sold our conscience to corruption, bigotry and tribalism. That is why it is so hard for us to move forward as a nation. We are saying even if he violated a traffic offense, send him the fine. Something even an enforcement officer can do. We don’t need a two-faced minister coming out to produce pages of memo/propanganda /threats against him, while overlooking others who had done worse. So, yes it was politically motivated and, yes the man did not lie when he said he is being hounded.

I think everyone should go back to the Old Testament and read the concept of tithing. The only place it was mentioned in the new testament was in regard to the Pharisees when Jesus upbraided them for being careful to tithe even the spices but had neglected the weightier matters of mercy and justice.He ended that since He did not come to disrupt the Law , but to fulfill it, he was not asking them to stop, but to pay attention to what mattered most.

The early church practiced giving generously as you had means. It was based on your level of consecration and conviction. You gave yourself first to the Lord, then your substance.

The reason why modern Pentecostal churches place undue emphasis on tithing is becos she has not managed to produce Christians with that level of depth and consecration that gives birth to the kind of generosity that is not transactional or under compulsion. So they deviced a way to ensure regular provisions.Some even went as far as threats and spiritual coercion.

This can be counterproductive as we have raised Christians who give as a transaction, or as a sacrifice to mitigate evil.

Jesus never emphasized tithing the way we do.He just raised men who knew they and everything they had belonged to the Lord and they gave as they were led.

This is God’s idea of giving. He wants us to give without compulsion, cheerfully and generously , out of your love for him and how much He has blessed you. He also wants us to give to the poor and less privileged.That is the giving God approves.

These victims need to be rehabilitated instead of the terrorists. They have suffered unspeakable trauma and those kids are scarred for life. My prayer is that anyone overtly or covertly involved in causing families pain in this country,may everything that is supposed to bring them happiness and fulfillment both now and in the future become the source of their greatest pain and regret.
