At a private dinner in Paris yesterday evening with His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose bold and forward-thinking reforms have put our economy firmly on a path of sustainable growth.
The results are increasingly evident top Nigerian companies now included on the FTSE Russell Frontier 50 Index, the NGX at historic highs, increased foreign direct investment and renewed economic confidence, a unified and more stable foreign exchange market, foreign reserves standing strong at about $55 billion, and so much more.
I remain proud of you, Mr. President! ๐ณ๐ฌ

The Seplat story
In 2009, two men with two small oil companies, Dr ABC Orjiako (Shebah), a medical doctor and Mr Austin Avuru, an NNPC-trained geologist (Platform), came together to form a new oil company.
Shebah + Platform = Seplat.
Orjiako owned 33% while Avuru owned 22%. They got an Africa-focused French oil company Maurel & Prom to contribute the remaining 45%.
But they still retained the rule that the chairman will not necessarily come from the majority shareholder.
So Orjiako and Avuru retained chairman and CEO positions respectively.
When they listed in the London Stock Exchange in 2014, their shareholding reduced to 15.6% and 13.5% respectively.
Some other investors came in along the way and Elumelu in 2025.
Now, the two founders own less than 14% combined and the rule that founder must be chairman no longer applies as Tony Elumelu, current largest single shareholder will become the chairman in 2027.

I mistakenly sent N36K to a dispatch rider instead of N3600 & before I realised, man has used text messages to wound my phone.
I love people like this.
I will give him all.
Na God butter am this Monday be that.
I asked my friend Patrick from Geneva why he put $15M into a SpaceX private placement after they lost $4.6B in Q1. He said: โIโm not investing in SpaceX. Iโm investing in Elon Muskโs brain.โ ๐ง

Abuja, September 1, 2026 โ Nigeria's economy continues to demonstrate resilience and accelerating growth with the second quarter of 2026 real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expanding by 4.43 per cent year-on-year, up from 4.23 per cent in Q2 2025 and 3.89 per cent in Q1 2026.
The strong Q2 2026 outturn lifted real GDP growth for the first half of 2026 to 4.16 per cent, up from 3.68 per cent in the corresponding period of 2025, a clear signal of sustained strengthening across the economy.
Growth is also becoming more broad-based. In Q2 2026, 27 economic subsectors recorded real growth above 3.0 per cent, up from 23 subsectors in Q2 2025, showing that expansion is no longer concentrated in a handful of industries.
The productive sectors led the way. Manufacturing grew by 3.24 per cent, more than double the 1.60 per cent recorded in Q2 2025, reflecting improved industrial output. Agriculture expanded by 4.39 per cent, up from 2.82 per cent, underscoring stronger production and value-chain performance. Services, the largest driver of growth, expanded by 4.60 per cent, up from 3.94 per cent.
The relative stability and steady appreciation of the exchange rate further amplified these gains in dollar terms. The naira appreciated by more than 12 per cent between H1 2025 and H1 2026, resulting in an expansion of the economy by approximately 17 per cent in U.S. dollar terms over the period, a pace that, if sustained along with the various social programmes of the Government, will meaningfully strengthen dollar incomes, improve purchasing power and lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.
Given this momentum, Nigeria is well positioned to consolidate its standing among Africa's largest economies and to advance toward the Government's target of a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030. The International Monetary Fund has already ranked Nigeria among the top 10 contributors to global real GDP growth in 2026, projecting the country to account for roughly 1.5 per cent of world growth this year, ahead of several advanced and emerging economies.ย
Continued macroeconomic stability, sustained growth across productive sectors, and improving investor confidence would accelerate Nigeria's progression toward becoming Africa's largest economy by 2028.
These results underscore the importance of sustaining our reforms and ensuring policy consistency as their benefits begin to reach households across the country. The Government remains focused on accelerating inclusive growth and translating these macroeconomic gains into shared prosperity for every Nigerian family.

I earned $120K a year working for Shell in 2012.
Ten years and multiple promotions later, in 2022, that figure has doubled to $240K a year.
In 2023, I stumbled on an internal, confidential, document that showed the salaries of my superiors.
I saw that even if I were promoted multiple times again, the best I could hope for in another 10 years was another doubling to around $480K a year.
This may sound crazy saying it out loud but that wasnโt cutting it for me.
I simply didnโt want the next 10 years to be a repeat of the last 10.
I wanted geometric progression, not an arithmetic one.
On my 40th birthday, in 2023, I was asked to make a wish as a blew the candles on my birthday cake.
โGet the hell out of Shell,โ I quietly whispered. Months later, I was out.
In 2024, my businesses grossed $500K; in 2025, they did $1M - geometric progression.
It required me to be delusional about my abilities, to bank on the faithfulness of God and to trust that inner voice that always nag at me that I could be more, I could do more and I could have more.
