Rule 4 – AVOIDANCE OF INTERMEDIARY IN THE PRACTICE OF THE LAW

As a lawyer, you shouldn't be practising law through a middleman.

Imagine a prospective client needs a lawyer, but someone says:

"Don't talk to the lawyer. Send the money to me. I'll handle everything."

That's the kind of arrangement Rule 4 seeks to prevent. A friend can recommend a lawyer. A non-lawyer shouldn't stand between the lawyer and the client by collecting fees, passing instructions, or controlling the relationship.
Are recommendations allowed? Yes. Brokerage? No. The profession is not an affiliate program

Rule 5– ASSOCIATION FOR LEGAL PRACTICE

Your rich uncle cannot wake up tomorrow and say, "Law business is booming. Let me open a law firm and employ lawyers."

Law firms are for lawyers. If you're not qualified to practise law in Nigeria, you don't get to own, run or partner in a law practice just because you have the money.

Why?

Because legal advice shouldn't be driven by someone whose biggest qualification is having capital.
Money can build an office. It can't qualify you to practise law.

Note: RULE 5 usually plays out in exam scenarios. Pay attention to it.

Honestly trying to build a career for yourself also needs money. Cost of data for online classes for skill acquisition, registration fees, transportation to conferences, while jobless is stressful. Thank God for my mom that is feeding me, just that I no fit Dey beg her for transport and data. It is well o! My hardwork will surely pay.
