#BREAKING: Brampton East MPP Hardeep Grewal used his taxpayer-funded constituency budget to purchase advertisements in the Punjabi Post, a newspaper solely owned by his father, according to a complaint filed Monday with Ontario's Integrity Commissioner.
The complaint, filed by the Official Opposition Ontario NDP, alleges Grewal used public money to further the private interests of an immediate family member, a potential violation of the Members' Integrity Act.
Grewal says he has now reached out to the Integrity Commissioner for advice, a step typically taken before spending the money.
This comes on the heels of revelations that Grewal billed taxpayers more than $27,000 for downtown Toronto hotel stays, despite representing a riding that is a 40 min drive from Queen's Park.
He has yet to explain those expenses.
Receipts for the hotel stays and MPP expense records can be found at https://t.co/nqoN62MPUq.
