Made this video to preview an interactive asset from my portfolio redesign. This time, I revisualised the 90 Nsibidi pictograms I created in ‘23

The research behind this work and the design of this set is what laid the ground work for my font, Agu Display.

Since I made these I’ve had about four friends, including myself use these characters as tattoos amongst other things.

I’ve recently had a few people reach out to ask for these for different reasons, to tattoo or use in their own personal projects.

When I launch my new portfolio. I’ll be including a download button to get them in png and svg for those interested in that.

I am so funny because I was literally talking to myself and so here's the plan for the next three months, six months, one year, I don't know now because once again I don't and won't borrow grief from my future.

I will take an active break from creating or trying to create or at the very least, I will outsource my creative "executions" to more capable hands while I direct and consume at a ridiculously alarming rate but also put in checks and balances to curtail what I am consuming, when and how I am consuming.

I am literally going to pause orin yen mehn 😂✋🏼 and throw myself into quantitative and analytical processes, system design, build and tinkering; essentially more logical work backed by data, figures and fact rather than settling/having to deal with the blow back of emotionally laden - creative work till I am 100% certain I am doing it once again for the love of the game and from a place of curiosity, love and an intricate level of execution and refinement.

Till then, yum yum.

Hmm,

So, this depends on what you are consuming and also what you intend to create. Sometimes, it is okay to only consume, so that when you eventually want to create, you are creating from a wealth of what you have consumed.

Trying to create more can, at times, be an antithesis to the very growth one might be seeking. So maybe, finding balance and defining the seasons according to what your sky is saying (farming) is better than planting all year long.

Then, being very intentional about what you want to create, refining your skill or output to only the finest quality, like a sniper who has one shot but with the awareness that he possesses more bullets if he misses the first.

Sometimes, you just need to create once or something. I don't really know. There is no clearly defined metric for what one is seeking.
Perhaps, a constant K should be "Near Perfection" or, better still, "Excellence", with extra points for "Presentation"

Also, all of this is hypothetical, and I am musing to myself.

I am and might be my own favorite "Monster".

When I the word "Monster" I can cite " Guillermo del Toro's - Frankenstein" as a perfect reference not that every other variation or depiction of "Frankenstein" in media has been poor but i think Guillermo del Toro's version just stands out so much for me because;

📌 Recency Bias:

I undoubtedly have recency bias because similar stories like Angel and Demons, Gladiator, Hellboy, Van Helsing, I Robot, Barbie, Oppenheimer, Odyssey and many more movies including DC and Marvel movies explore this particular theme I have been contemplating about in parts or whole but Frankenstein came out just last year and I have seen it multiple times so I haven't forgotten it yet.

📌 Taste, Visuals, Execution, Emotional Science :

I did a lot of research about Guillermo del Toro's when I was "passively" studying the art and then creative directions a couple of years ago and he absolutely stood out to me because omo his process, healthy Obsession, planning, attention to details and insane execution is one for the history books.

He is truly one of his kind and he stands in the same boat with Studio Ghibli folks them; Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Toshio Suzuki, and Yasuyoshi Tokuma, Kenichi Yoda
Etc.

*I am going to stop this conversion here and pick it up later when I feel up to it, I am getting distracted now - The music I am listening to suddenly have lyrics (I love it) and my brain has gone from thinking about the topic at hand to trying to make sense of the lyrics, beat, sound and music transition (it's an album)

I don't want to multitask anymore and I am trying to minimize how much cognitive load I am excerting on my brain at any given time which I know for a fact will be somewhat difficult but I will try to declutter and fix it, I can't lose just yet.

Back in 2021 I interviewed at Vercel and I failed badly.

I couldn’t implement a debounce function and was stuck for like 30 minutes. It was pretty embarrassing.

10 months later (2022) I interviewed again and got the job.
