Instead, adress the system that pushes med students to their limits just to pass, and then stands limply by when their mental or physical health inevitably breaks down.

I’ve gotten really tired of all the shallow AI design takes on the TL.

So tired I’ve decided to not engage in any of the conversations lately but that’ll just encourage the grifters to spread fear.

I’ve worked with some of the best GenAI models for months before they got released that I cannot mention for obvious reasons.

I’ll start by saying this, GEN AI IS A TOOL and just like we have had so many of them over the last few decades, this is just another one.

Learn how to use it but don’t EVER believe you’ll have to sidestep understanding the process of creation itself.

There are two categories of these tools;

Exploratory tools; these help you explore multiple visual directions once you’ve defined what design problem you want to solve.

Production tools; These help you produce iterations at extreme velocity when you’ve decided on a design solution and created a system around it.

Neither of them can work without you.

Your judgement is the most important part of the workflow.

What most companies and all these grifters won’t tell you is that CONTROL (or governance in corp terms) is one of the most important part of a professional’s workflow. You need to understand why every choice was made and what choices are even worth making and what their long/short term impacts are.

Everyone within my network using AI in fields they’re experts in all complain of the same thing, when you can move fast and break things, you lose touch with the work being done and what that means is that you cannot understand or fix it if shit hits the fan…which it always does.

When you outsource the entire process to AI, you are unable to define the constraints, control the details or even feel the pushback from tweaking specific parts of what you’re building.

So please, go finish your design courses, you will only lose your job if you outsource your entire thinking and judgement to AI.

Do the hard work of thinking through the problem first, sketch out solutions, think from first principles.

AI allows you expand that thought process now and to also do it much faster but if you outsource everything, you’ll lose control of your process and when you do so, you’ll lose what makes your work matter. Your taste.

my friends and i had food poisoning, heavy rain beat us and we were almost stabbed because thugs started fighting.

i eventually got it in 2022, voted in 2023 and i’ll be voting again in 2027.
