Troops Foil ISWAP Attack in Borno, Recover Camcorder Exposing Foreign Terrorist Links

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled a late-night ISWAP infiltration attempt at Cross Kauwa, Kukawa LGA of Borno State, inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists and forcing them to flee.

During the operation, troops recovered a Sony camcorder from a neutralised terrorist cameraman. Preliminary forensic analysis of the footage reportedly revealed the involvement of four senior ISWAP commanders and three foreign terrorist facilitators, including individuals identified as a Palestinian trainer and a Moroccan doctor.

The terrorists were also said to have attempted to loot cholera medical supplies, further supporting intelligence reports of a cholera outbreak within terrorist camps.

Troops recovered ammunition, terrorist uniforms and other combat items, while post-battle intelligence indicated that the fleeing insurgents evacuated the bodies of their dead and wounded.

Two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter and have been evacuated for treatment. They are reported to be in stable condition.

The military says the successful operation underscores the combat readiness of troops and its resolve to sustain offensive operations against terrorism across the North-East.

Breaking: PSC Dismisses Four Senior Police Officers, Sanctions 31 Others for Misconduct

The Police Service Commission has dismissed four senior police officers and sanctioned 31 others over various acts of misconduct in a major disciplinary exercise aimed at strengthening accountability within the Nigeria Police https://t.co/cmkDPvnUdk

The decisions were approved during the Commission’s plenary meeting held at its Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Njoku Kalu.

The Commission said the four dismissed officers were found guilty of gross misconduct, unprofessional conduct and acts unbecoming of public officers.

As part of the disciplinary measures, 10 senior officers were demoted. Three Superintendents of Police were reduced to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, two Deputy Superintendents of Police were reduced to Assistant Superintendent of Police, while five Assistant Superintendents of Police were demoted to the rank of https://t.co/HOXJ6iilH0 Enforcement

The Commission also approved the compulsory retirement of two officers in the public interest.

Other sanctions included severe reprimands for 10 officers, reprimands for five officers, warning letters for three officers and a letter of advice issued to one officer. Seven officers were, however, exonerated after investigations cleared them of wrongdoing.

Their Dreams Ended in 1990, But Their Sacrifice Lives On: COAS Lt.General Shaibu Unveils Cenotaph for 11 Fallen NDA Naval Cadets

More than three decades after tragedy struck on the waterfront of the then Nigerian Naval College in Onne, Rivers State, the memories of 11 young Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Naval Cadets who lost their lives during a routine training exercise have been immortalised in stone.
On Saturday, 5 July 2026, silence, solemn reflection and military honours defined the atmosphere at the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School, Onne, as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, unveiled a cenotaph and laid wreaths in honour of the fallen members of the 41 Regular Course.

For many in attendance, it was not simply the unveiling of a monument. It was the fulfilment of a promise that the Armed Forces of Nigeria never forgets its own.
The ceremony brought together senior military officers, serving personnel, veterans, families of the deceased cadets and members of the 41 Regular Course, all united by a shared commitment to preserve the memory of young men whose ambitions of serving Nigeria were tragically cut short on 23 July 1990.
