Regrettably the OCS annual dinner, rugby & netball at CRGS on 18th December, has had to be cancelled due to concerns over Covid. Ticket refunds will be made by the Treasurer. The Society is hopeful of rescheduling the dinner in the spring along with the netball & rugby fixtures.
Old Colcestrian @laurie_bristow now back in UK before heading to Qatar to the UK’s Afghanistan diplomatic mission which will now be based there. I’m sure all OCs will congratulate him for his & his staff’s extraordinary achievements in such difficult & dangerous circumstances.
Nearly 15,000 British nationals, Afghan staff and others at risk have been evacuated from Kabul since Operation Pitting began - our commitment to the people of Afghanistan will endure.
We are working flat out to bring British nationals and our Afghan colleagues to safety. We’ve already helped hundreds of people to leave on military flights.
Update: As the Taliban take control of Kabul, most British Embassy staff have been evacuated but Ambassador and Old Colcestrian Sir Laurie Bristow remains, personally issuing visas & assisting UK nationals & Afghan staff. @ColchesterRGS https://t.co/lS1QxMtoh0
