UNITED! ๐ฆ๐น๐ฉ๐ช๐ต๐ฑโ๏ธ
12 September 1683.
The day the Old Continent stood as one wall.
When the crescent hung over the towers of Vienna, when Kara Mustafaโs camp stretched like a sea of tents, and Europe already seemed just another prize, something happened that no one expected from fractured, quarreling nations.
Poland, Austria and the German states forgot their grievances for one day.
King John III Sobieski took supreme command. Charles of Lorraine and the electors of the Empire stood at his side. From the woods of Kahlenberg, out of mist and smoke, emerged the greatest cavalry charge in the history of Europe.
The winged hussars.
Twelve, fifteen, twenty thousand horsemen. Their wings roared like a hurricane. Lances gleamed like a forest of steel suns. Behind them: cuirassiers, imperial reiters, Bavarians, Saxons. One front. One will.
Around six in the evening Sobieski gave the signal.
The earth trembled.
The Ottoman line shattered like glass. The vizier fled. Vienna was saved. The Christian continent was saved.
This was not only a battle for a city.
It was a battle over what Europe wanted to be: a collection of petty grievances, or a community that can stand together when everything is at stake.
That day Europe showed it can be great.
Not because it was uniform.
Because at the decisive moment it was united.
Let this image โ the red banner with the white eagle, the wings of the hussars, dust and fire over the plain โ be more than a memory.
Let it be a call.
For if we could then,
we can now.
All of Europe. One front.
Always, when it is needed.
Lithuania! ๐ฑ๐น
My fatherland! You are like health;
Only he who has lost you Knows how much you must be prized.
Today I see And describe your beauty in all its splendor,
For I yearn for you.
โ wrote the famous Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz
Today in Kaunas, bikers and patriots gathered cheerfully โwithout official permission โ near the Kaunas Mosque and loudly shouted down the muftiate, chanting "Lithuania."

Malta did not fall.
Four months.
A handful of Knights.
An empire that came to erase them.
They took Fort St. Elmo.
They never took the island.
On this night the Ottoman fleet left.
The rock stayed Christian.
Jean de Valette was seventy.
He walked into the breach with a pike.
That is the story.

Otranto free.
After 13 months of Ottoman occupation, the city returned to Christian hands. The siege, the death of Mehmed II, and the combined forces of Naples, Hungary and the Papacy ended this episode. Otranto became a symbol of resistance.

Lucius Domitius Aurelianus was born โ the emperor who, in just a few years, put the shattered Roman Empire back together.
At the darkest point of the Crisis of the Third Century the state had split into three: Rome itself, the Gallic Empire in the West, and Palmyra in the East. Aurelian, a soldier from the Danubian provinces, retook Gaul, defeated Zenobia, secured the frontiers and ringed Rome with new walls between 270 and 275. The Senate gave him the title Restitutor Orbis โ Restorer of the World.
Harsh, effective, uncompromising. His reign was short, but he left the empire whole again.
