Both @CommRubio and @MingusMapps4PDX could have had the enthusiastic support of Parkrose and Argay voters if only they'd shown any interest in fighting for us. This is what happens when you work for multi-billion corporations rather the people who elected you.
Huge thanks to 1000 Friends, @ncaoregon, @NEDC_Oregon and @craglaw who just
filed aย petitionย with LUBA seeking review of building permits for the controversial Prologis freight warehouse. ย

@TheRyanHamilton What an excruciating nightmare for your family. I am sorry that your state is run by ghouls. Wishing you and your wife health and healing.
@CommRubio@PortlandBPS greenlighting permits for a new diesel freight warehouse opposed by a majority BIPOC community already disproportionately burdened by east Portland's dirty air and heat islands is not how Parkrose+Argay residents would define "climate justice."
And yet, you have refused to use the power of your office to fight dirty and dangerous new diesel infrastructure in East Portland's majority BIPOC communities where neighbors have clearly said NO.
Portlanders need you to walk your talk, @CommRubio.
Nearly every day we see proof that we are living in a climate emergency: Over the past several years, Portlanders have increasingly experienced record-shattering heat, choking smoke from increasing wildfires, more frequent floods, and other extreme climate events.
This is what we need in the heat islands of East Portland, not more hot, dirty diesel infrastructure. Imagine if the old Kmart site were converted to a cooling, beneficial greenspace rather than yet another heat-producing @Prologis freight warehouse.

@CommRubio You know what else emits toxic pollutants? Diesel freight warehouses! Why are you deaf to the concerns of the hundreds of constituents in Parkrose and Argay begging you to stop dirty, dangerous, and equitable development in our community?
So PDX city leaders can ban a BIPOC owned restaurant for smelling like a restaurant, and they can ban leaf blowers, but the kids at Parkrose High are expected to just suck it up? And by "it", we mean additional diesel emissions on top of the unhealthy levels we breathe daily.
@barrettjoneill Because with better planning, better infrastructure, better public transit, and more equitable resource distribution, all families could be in the best position, not just affluent families. Sorry if the concept of public good is challenging for you.
@barrettjoneill Truly glad your family is OK but the privilege implied in your statement is staggering.
Everyone deserves to be able to move about safely regardless of income or access to expensive vehicles or tech gadgets. We should not require armor to get our kids to school in one piece.
