In an effort to do our part in halting community spread of COVID-19, Old Red will be temporarily closed to the public through Sunday, March 22, 2020. The health of our visitors and community is of the utmost importance to us. Thank you for your understanding.
The museum galleries will be closed on Saturday, March 21st from 9:00AM to 12:30PM for a private Girl Scout event. The galleries will reopen at 12:30PM. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Did you know our grand staircase was almost completely removed in the 1920s to make room for more office space? The photo on the left shows the staircase area when museum renovations began. The photo on the right shows our restored grand staircase today.
We appreciate constructive criticism that helps us to grow as an institution. This posting has been removed from our website as we reevaluate our hiring practices.

A fantastic view of the Grand Staircase at #OldRedMuseum from the fourth Floor. It was removed in the 1920s to make room for additional office space then later restored and reconstructed to resemble the original 1892 appearance.
Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow passed through Dallas on occasion and are generally known for their notorious crime spree. Interestingly, Barrow was also a carpenter. A jewelry box he created while serving jail time now calls #OldRed home.
