They claim it costs £8,000 a month to keep someone in a care home
The actual cost including staff, energy, accommodation and food is more like £3,000
But the Landlord, owners, and staffing companies need their vast profits
Renationalise Social Care and it will be affordable
I’ve just completed a delivery to a local woman.
She has two children, one dog and is the sole provider.
She asked for food, gas and electric.
She kept repeating “thank you” over and over as we delivered the food, and topped her meters up.
She kept repeating that without she doesn’t know where she would have been.
Gas. Electric. Food. All necessities not luxuries.
As the year continues and the cold weather arrives things will begin to get harder for families and children. #foodbank
Daniel Thomas was crying when police stopped the car he was travelling in with his child, but he didn't seem to care when he tried to kidnap the wrong man in front of his own one-year-old daughter and his partner.
He punched the man in front of his daughter, pinned him against a wall and tried to drag him into a waiting car while armed with a machete over coke.
When a woman is assaulted, MANY will initially tell themselves it isn’t a big deal, will convince themselves they’re overreacting, or initially try to soothe the perpetrator’s feelings. This is not just normal, but COMMON.
I asked some friends of mine to do a few lines of my poem ‘Ode To Square Chapel’ in support of my quest to help #SaveSquareChapelArts in Halifax.
Without hesitation… they all chipped in. 🙌
It’s what friends are for.
Please re-post if you enjoy! x
I attended a woman’s home tonight after a woman made contact with our charity foodbank.
She’s a single parent with three children and is struggling with depression. She had just £7 left on her gas and was £10 overdrawn on her electricity meter, with very little food in the house.
We topped up her gas and electricity and brought food. As we were leaving, she asked us to stay and talk. She wanted to feel seen. She wanted to feel heard.
We stayed, listened and talked about local support, including walking groups.
When she opened the door, she was quiet, upset and teary. After 25 minutes, she was smiling and seemed relieved.
We often hear people talk about kindness. It matters when we put it into action. Sometimes, listening is what someone needs most.
it's chilling how many men think women "regret" sex so much they would spend years of their life enduring public humiliation and scrutiny by accusing men of rape. where did this talking point even come from? I'm seeing it in the replies of nearly every tweet about cornell
A long time coming.
The lives of the Grenfell community have been on pause for the last nine years, while those responsible for the deaths of 72 innocent people have continued to live theirs.
I hope all those found responsible end up behind bars, where they should have been a long time ago, and that we finally see justice delivered.
What are the security checks for flight crew members? Don't they go through the same strict security checks that we all go through? If the pilot was stabbed with a knife, how on earth did he manage to get it through security?
Let me make this crystal clear. Jane Doe should NEVER be publicly identified. We don't want her name. We WANT the names of the 57 “men” who were complicit.
let me explain what have been happening in Tunisia for the past 24 hours: 1/8
September 19th, a 15 year-old girl got off school early. Her friend then asked her if she wanted to go for a coffee. The girl then called her mother, asked for permission and her mom said yes+
The Metropolitan Police has submitted 20 files of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, asking it to consider criminal charges against 54 individuals and 20 companies over the Grenfell Tower fire.
The charges include corporate manslaughter, gross negligence manslaughter, health and safety offences, fraud and fraud-related offences, and misconduct in public office.
The CPS has committed to making final charging decisions before the 10th anniversary of the fire, which falls on 14 June 2027.
She had just got home from work and was changing out of her clothes when twelve officers broke her door down.
She stood there naked, handcuffed, in front of them, telling them over and over that they had the wrong home.
By the count on their own body cameras, she said it more than forty times.
Anjanette Young. Chicago, February 2019. A social worker.
They had raided the wrong apartment on an informant's bad tip. The man they wanted lived next door and was already wearing an electronic monitor — which the city could have checked in about a minute.
Chicago's own accountability office found she was left handcuffed and naked for nearly ten minutes before anyone covered her properly, and handcuffed for about seventeen minutes in total.
Then the city fought for nearly two years to stop her from getting the video — and went to court to try to block a station from airing it.
Reform-led Staffordshire Council has today axed meals on wheels and home helps for pensioners, and grief counselling for veterans .

The luxury house. The court papers. The boats. Then the money trail: Israel-linked billionaire cash, US donors, and a machine that turned him from nobody into a full-time public grifter.
Watch it before you fund the next chapter.
