Today, as every day, we remember Diogo Jota on what would have been his 29th birthday.
All of our love, thoughts and prayers continue to be with his wife Rute, his children, parents and all of his family and friends, as well as those of his brother, Andre.
Forever in our hearts, forever our number 20 ❤️
'I need to start with a confession. Not many things bug me, but if there’s one thing that does, it’s the idea that my story is a football fairy tale.
I know when people say I’m some sort of Cinderella Man that it’s meant as a compliment. I appreciate that, but to be totally honest, it doesn’t feel like one, because it isn’t true.
No magic wands have been waved in my direction, I didn’t win some kind of lottery to land a spot on one of the biggest clubs in the world. The reason why I’m a Liverpool player is the same reason why I’m captain of my country: I’ve worked my bollocks off to get where I am, and by doing that, I’ve been able to make the most of whatever talent I have.
Why does this matter? In truth, it doesn’t matter to me as an individual. It probably doesn’t matter to my family, either. It only matters because there are God knows how many little Andy Robertsons out there. Kids who are struggling to convince people that their talent deserves an opportunity. Kids who just need a break to get to wherever they deserve to be.
Kids who might give up if they start believing that only a fairy tale can save them.
I’ve never wanted to be a poster boy, but if I’m going to be a poster boy for anything, it should be this ― if you don’t give up, and if you carry on believing in yourself when others are doubting you, you can make it. You can show that you are good enough.'

Jude Bellingham on the Anfield atmosphere:
“It’s a bit hyped up in my opinion, I’ve played at a lot of stadiums in my career that have had better atmospheres, The Allianz, The Emirates, just to name a few.”
"Derby rivalry aside, we recognise the talent, commitment and joy Diogo Jota brought to so many.
"Our thoughts will always be with your family, friends, teammates and supporters."

Last night at Anfield will stay with me forever - not because of one person's words, but because of how the entire football family stood together.
To my @afcbournemouth teammates who supported me in that moment, to the @LiverpoolFC players and fans who showed their true character, to the @premierleague officials who handled it professionally - thank you. Football showed its best side when it mattered most.
Scoring those two goals felt like speaking the only language that truly matters on the pitch. This is why I play - for moments like these, for my teammates, for everyone who believes in what this beautiful game can be.
The overwhelming messages of support from across the football world remind me why I love this sport. We keep moving forward, together. 🙏🏾⚽

A great player but above all, a great human being.
Only a strong character shows such resilience in those circumstances.
We love you and are all with you, Antoine ❤️
Here is Arne Slot's letter to the LMA.....
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Firstly, I would like to apologise for not being with you tonight.
"The LMA Annual Awards evening is an event that I was very much looking forward to attending along with my family and colleagues from Liverpool Football Club.
"As you will know, a shocking incident took place in Liverpool yesterday, one that left dozens of men, women and children who had attended our parade injured and as a result I have had to withdraw from the event out of solidarity with all affected.
"This is not a decision I have taken lightly but it is one that I feel is absolutely right given the seriousness of the situation. I hope that I have your understanding in this regard. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wider football community, including the LMA itself, the Premier League and many clubs who will be represented tonight, for the support we have received over the last 24 hours.
"Football is and always should be a game built on rivalry, but it is also a great source of comradeship, especially at times like this.
"If you would indulge me, I would also like to pay tribute to the emergency services and other authorities in Liverpool who swung into action as soon as the incident happened. Along with the supporters and bystanders who helped one another in an hour of need, I think everyone involved in the aftermath deserves the gratitude of all of us.
"On another note, I am humbled to be named Barclays Premier League Manager of the Season so thank you to the Barclays and the Premier League awards panel for selecting me. The main reason I say I am humbled is that I know the incredibly high standard of the managers in the Premier League.
"It goes without saying that I am also really proud to be a member of the League Managers Association and therefore I am truly honoured to be awarded the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy for the LMA Manager of the Year. To be voted for by your managerial peers is so special, especially as I know the unbelievable quality of those who have won this award previously.
"Sir Alex, I look forward to meeting with you at a later date to receive my trophy from you. I also look forward to attending my first LMA Annual Awards dinner on a future occasion. Thank you once again for your understanding and support. Enjoy your evening and if you could join me it keeping those affected by yesterday's events in your thoughts and prayers it would be very much appreciated. Arne."
An historic stadium, a place where we have fought against one another and stood with each other. Highs, lows and so many memories.
The end of an era at Goodison Park and the beginning of a new one.
West Ham United remember the 97 Liverpool fans who lost their lives at Hillsborough on 15 April 1989. The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with the families, friends and all those affected by the tragedy.
You will not find, re-listening to John Hunt’s Cheltenham Gold Cup commentary, a more stirring study in courage in sport this year.
