Today, the European Union imposed its largest sanctions package against Russia, targeting around 1,600 individuals and legal entities linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex.
Ukraine is grateful to President of the European Council António Costa @eucopresident, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen @vonderleyen, and all EU member states for adopting this sanctions package, as well as to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas @kajakallas, who played an important role in making this step possible.
Restrictions have been imposed on Russian enterprises and their executives involved in the production of ballistic missiles, communications equipment, electronics, radio navigation equipment, and specialized machinery, as well as in mechanical engineering and shipbuilding. In total, the sanctions list includes 826 legal entities and 743 individuals.
Consistently strengthening sanctions against Russia’s military-industrial complex is an important part of limiting Russia’s ability to continue its aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, it is important to further restrict access to critical components and technologies and strengthen oversight of compliance with sanctions restrictions.
Also today, the European Union imposed sanctions on 77 individuals who participated in the illegal “elections” to the Russian State Duma in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories, as well as members of Russia’s Central Election Commission.
Importantly, both decisions were adopted as part of efforts to synchronize sanctions with Ukraine. Our country will continue working to ensure that all our sanctions measures are synchronized across international jurisdictions.
Energy. This crisis has its roots in the Middle East. Everyone understands that perfectly well. Everyone knows how to do the math. If Russia accounts for 2.2% of global diesel supplies, what impact can it have on the price? That’s how negligible it is.
And if we don’t give Putin opportunities, his influence in other areas will be just as negligible. He is simply taking advantage of the fact that others want dialogue with him, even though there is no equality and no fairness in it. Ukraine is simply showing that it is a normal, independent country that is ready to negotiate. But Ukraine will not disgrace itself.

Russian losses have increased in recent months. In the Dobropillia area alone, the Russians are losing around 200 troops killed every day. They also have many badly wounded. We are stopping every enemy attempt to advance or infiltrate. Ukraine's frontline positions remain strong.
@TimothyDSnyder Right now, 8 ballistic missiles have hit Kyiv. And this time, the US gave no warning about the launches. Congratulations, USA allies of Russia.

@USEmbassyKyiv@USAmbNATO@USNATO Вирішили суки, що розвіддані можна давати на рашку, а по Києву можна стріляти. Ну ну. Нам, шановні, втрачати вже нічого. Вашими стараннями.
@USEmbassyKyiv@USAmbNATO@USNATO
I spoke with Chancellor Friedrich Merz @bundeskanzler. I am grateful for his solidarity with Ukraine and support for our people. We discussed how Russia is responding to President Trump’s statement on an energy ceasefire with new attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities. This is exactly how the Russians behave when pressure eases. It is very important that Europe continue to act on principle.
Germany is working to organize a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing. It is equally important to work through all other formats that can strengthen Ukraine and all of Europe. We agreed to hold a meeting of national security advisors in the E3–Ukraine format. We also discussed support for Ukraine’s financial resilience. We will discuss everything in greater detail during our meeting this week. Thank you, Friedrich! Thank you, Germany!
