United Russia gets a larger faction in the Duma than in the last election. I wouldn’t overestimate the importance of official results since the vote was blatantly unfree.

But it was easier for the Kremlin to achieve them than in 2021. The war allowed it to erase pro-Western opposition while the West has all but annihilated its historically enormous soft power clout in Russia by choosing a counter-productively aggressive, profane and xenophobic tone in its messaging to Russian society.

Besides Gaza and Iran serve as vivid illustrations of what Russians should expect if their country becomes more vulnerable. What the West’s self-defeating escalatory strategy (and Ukrainian strikes) achieve is turning Putin into Russians’ best and only bet for survival.

That’s how things work in real life rather in hawkish think tank reports promising social disintegration and economic collapse in Russia to their gullible and brainwashed audiences.

Ukrainians living in occupied eastern Ukraine are mainly Russian speaking and are happy with their situation. Kiev, after all, was shelling them from 2014 onwards.

Ukrainians living to the west don't want to fight for the eastern Ukrainians. Which is why they have to be press-ganged to do so.

Russia doesn't want Western Ukraine. It simply wanted a land corridor to Crimea, which is Russian speaking and Russian supporting.

The only people who wanted this war was NATO and the West. These monsters have now killed and maimed close to 3 million Russian and Ukrainian Slavic brothers.

Nuremberg 2.0 for Obama, Biden, Nuland, Von Der Leyen, Zelensky etc. War criminals all.

Я наконец поняла, кого мне напоминала вся эта унылая оппозиционная возня по «акциям», выборам и пр.

Партком и организацию субботника. Ну вот просит брюссельский партком, и надо перед ним отчитаться, согнать прогрессивную общественность и показать немеркнущие результаты.

Путинская бюрократия, надо сказать, занималась на этих выборах ровно тем же, но ее хоть можно понять. Ей страной надо править, и в процесс управление входит организация этого мероприятия для галочки. (И чтобы можно было потом Трампу предъявить, вот, мол, у нас есть выборы, у Зеленского нет).

То есть для стороннего наблюдателя, который презирает всеобщее избирательное право, вне зависимости от того, фиктивное оно (как в России) или ну вроде бы как настоящее (как в Европе, хотя мне трудно тут подобрать короткое определение), то есть меня – картинка такая. С одной стороны едет Джаггернаут, - так он едет, и траки все давят. А с другой бегают какие-то лузеры и зазывают в свой балаган для отчета, чтобы грант дали. Причем можно не беспокоиться, грант дадут. Там же среди грантодателей тоже такой же партком, которому по фиг на результат.

@YLatynina Вы не задаете критерий успеха. Если это лишь немедленная смена власти, то любая оппозиция до краха режима - "балаган" (как "Солидарность" до 1989). Но важны и скрытые задачи: координация, фиксация протеста, подготовка сетей к окну возможностей. Их нельзя отрицать.

@YLatynina Тезис "бюрократия делает то же" стирает суть. В одном случае всё решает админресурс и фальсификации, в другом - люди рискуют жизнью, выражая протест. Партком заставлял, а сегодня участие добровольно и опасно (Навальный, Кара-Мурза). Сравнение убирает разницу принуждения и риска.
