Olgun’s Notebook

I’m @olgunuluc. This is where I can post thoughts and videos during NBL games without spamming my main account, which is reserved for more important news stuff.

This is an incredible pass from Joe Ingles to Goulding vs the top-locking D.

#NBL27

Makuach Maluach vs Brisbane: 19 points (8/12 FG, 3/5 3PT).

Through 3 games, Maluach is averaging 16.0 ppg, on 17/23 FG (79.3%) and 8/11 3PT (72.7%). Fully acknowledging the incredibly small sample size + iffy competition, that’s an insane 93.6% TS. Impressive start to #NBL27.

Elite decel from Kendric Davis.

It’s fun watching the new imports of #NBL27 learn on the fly what Will Magnay is.

Arnas Velička post play.

Brandon Knight will not be available for the Perth Wildcats’ game vs the Adelaide 36ers on Thursday, sources told ESPN. He’s not in the country yet. As it stands, it’s unlikely he’ll be available for either of the Wildcats’ Round 2 games.

[Olgun’s Notebook @OlgsNotebook]

This sort of work-rate from Perth is pretty unacceptable.

[Olgun’s Notebook @OlgsNotebook]

Every game, there’ll be multiple examples of the little things Hunter Goodrick does to impact winning. SEM broke this 1-2-2 press with relative ease, getting a wide open look at a three for an elite shooter.

[Olgun’s Notebook @OlgsNotebook]

Jason Spurgin with the wall up, then the block. Very solid defensive possession from the big-man. He’s looked in much better shape going into this season; played 15 MIN in the Kings’ opener vs Cairns.

[Olgun’s Notebook @OlgsNotebook]

Thought this was awesome from Zylan Cheatham. To get that kickout to Bryce Cotton so quickly is an example of elite athleticism + awareness. Just a really high-level heads-up play.

I asked Bryce about it in the presser.

Credit to @derekrucker5 for recognizing it on the fly.

[Olgun Uluc @OlgunUluc]

Spending = wins last NBL season, Perth/Sydney led the pack, Bryce’s citizenship saved Adelaide ~$800k, and SEM were high achievers.

New on @ESPNAusNZ. Here’s each NBL team’s cash + cap spends from the 2025-26 season - obtained by ESPN - and my analysis.

Josh King looked so tempted to do the funniest thing possible here…

[Olgun Uluc @OlgunUluc]

I was in attendance for all four days of the 2026 National Performance Camp in Canberra, where Australia’s best 2009/2010 born prospects were on show.

New story for @ESPNAusNZ, on the athletes that stood out.

New @ESPNAusNZ story on Torrey Craig in advanced talks with the Sydney Kings for the remainder of #NBL26.

[Olgun Uluc @OlgunUluc]

Torrey Craig is in advanced talks with the Sydney Kings on a deal for the remainder of the 2025-26 NBL season, sources told ESPN.

[Olgun Uluc @OlgunUluc]

John Jenkins - a 6'4 American shooting guard - has agreed to a deal with the Adelaide 36ers, sources told ESPN. The deal was negotiated between the 36ers and Charles Misuraca of SLASH over the past 24 hours.

New story on @ESPNAusNZ.

What a pass from Karim Lopez. Sees the mismatch inside and puts it right on the money for Mennenga to catch it over the smaller defender, while close enough to the rim so he can get it up before the help comes. Nice heads up play in the clutch.

[Olgun’s Notebook @OlgsNotebook]

John Brown III’s activity on the defensive end is incredible.

[Olgun’s Notebook @OlgsNotebook]

@nrossett The left hand clearly on the body and the right hand clearly on the wrist. Otherwise yeah it was a clean contest 😅

[Olgun’s Notebook @OlgsNotebook]

Jordi Hunter, in a single motion, checks the clock on the opposite rim then rises up for a deep 3 for the two-for-one. He makes it, plus the foul. Cool heads up play.
