I disagree - I’ve found most circular/non-productive debates come from 1) unspoken disagreement on definitions, 2) unspoken disagreement on facts.
Clearly separating arguments from defs & facts make discussions much more enjoyable/productive.
When a debate descends to talking about the meanings of words, it's irrecoverable. You will learn nothing from continuing. I'm not sure why this is true, but empirically I've found to be true 100% of the time.
How political systems are evaluated:
1. Maximizing standard of living for majority of people
2. Maximizing personal freedom compatible with the freedom of others in society
