@VoteLewko Your generation thought asbestos was great and that fax was the pinnacle of communication. I wonder what education the people that figured those ones out had.
Your knocking one side of the coin for the other. Both are useful and should be valued.
This book is a MUST-READ for academics, thanks @Calnewport_ (i dont know if this is his account, i doubt he uses twitter). Will be implementing all of it.
This copy is in my office if anyone wants to give it a read!
πππExcellent thread outlining the main analyses & findings from our paper just out in @NatRevEarthEnv led by @Lijing_Cheng examining historical and future changes in global ocean heat content. With @MichaelEMann@JanDZika @laurezanna @jfasullo et al.
@RyanIckert@KSircombe@punkrockscience Good to know! Another one that has been drilled into me is the difference between whether - to introduce a question, and wether - a castrated ram or goat.
@DoctorKarl@Cosmic_Horizons@cosmicpinot Hey Dr Karl! Not a physicist, but I think I can see him pull the bucket back sharply and the very last minute. Because the fruit is already leaving the bucket, a calculated pull-back jerk would suffice.
@raindrop_herder I wrote multiple parts of my thesis on a plethora of genres, sometimes classical, meditation music, and other times UK drum and bass π
UPDATE: unfortunately, the session is in-person only, apologies to anyone wanting to zoom in. I'll provide a link if a recording is uploaded in coming days π
Watching a brilliant but terrifying summary of our relationship with mother earth, starring a former lecturer of mine at ANU, @joellegergis.
Would suggest a watch. https://t.co/YXTcHjKn22
Very grateful to be graduating my Bachelor of science with honours at @scienceANU & @anuearthscience! Massive thanks goes to my super supportive supervisor @Laura_M_Otter and all my collaborators who've made it all possible πππ
The image taken by the JWST compared to one taken by Hubble, of the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723.
It's s a gravitational lens, showing us the light of galaxies that are far behind the cluster in arcs around it. I tried to orient them the same. LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE.
A lot of work has gone into rebuilding the soil of the paddocks back to a nutriet-rich sponge, which was previously over-grazed and compacted. The fields are now a sanctuary for the local wombats, with a handful of alpacas.
Been farm sitting for my parents this week. Here is 4 years of progress, rejuvenating the dam to a #biodiverse#habitat for local #flora and #fauna. Have identified frogs as common eastern froglets.
