#IM found fame as the lead rapper, sub vocalist, producer and Maknae of the very popular, chart-topping group MONSTA X! He is a great Rapper and all round entertainer, but also an amazing song-writer as writing songs is one of his favourite hobbies! I.M. was born in Suwon, South Korea but can also sing in perfect English as he spent most of his early years living abroad, mainly in America, due to his father's work as a scientist at Harvard University. He has been key to MONSTA X's success overseas because of his fluent english. Forbes noted that "Without I.M leading the group as a bilingual member, it is very likely that MONSTA X would not have been able to break through the traditional language barriers". In May 2015, I.M. officially debuted with Monsta X, writing 5 of the songs on their debut EP 'Trespass'! I.M. is also a successful Solo Artist in his own right! In May 2016, he released his first mixtape via Starship Entertainment's YouTube channel, titled 'Who Am I?' ft. Yeseo. On October 20, he released a 2nd mixtape titled 'Madeleine' with Brother Su ft. J.Han. In July 2017, I.M. released the mixtape titled 'Be My Friend' with group member Joohoney and in February 2018, he released another solo mixtape titled 'Fly With Me'! In April 2019, I.M. released yet another mixtape, with the lead single "Horizon", a collab with American artist ELHAE & "Scent" as the B-side. In May 2020, he dropped his 2nd collab with ELHAE titled "Need to Know". He also made his first solo appearance on the talk show 'Talk Talk Information Brunch'. On February 19, 2021, I.M. released his first EP album “Duality” with its lead single "God Damn" which showcased his skills as a singer-songwriter and composer. 'Duality' topped several charts including Melon, Bugs!, Amazon and the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart after going to No. 1 in 18 countries, and also peaked at No. 6 on the US iTunes Top Albums chart! All 5 trap tracks from the album charted on the weekly Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart, occupying 20% of the entire World Songs chart, quite some feat for a K-Pop Act. In September 2021, I.M. dropped the self-written and composed single "Loop", as part of his work for 'Welcome To My Baverse', and that same month became a DJ for Naver Now's radio program 'Midnight Idol", with group member Kihyun. In November 2022, I.M. signed with Sony Music Korea and in June 23,2023 he released his 2nd EP 'Overdrive' which debuted at #6 on the Circle chart in Korea! I.M. held the Overdrive Showcase Tour in Seoul at the Yes24 Live Hall on August 5 & 6 with both nights selling out in 5 minutes! On April 3, 2024, I.M. released his 3rd EP 'Off The Beat' which debuted at #5 on the Circle Albums chart in Korea, and won I.M. his first Hanteo Chart Bronze Certification Plaque for 100,000 units sold in its first week! On May 25 2024, I.M. embarked on his first world tour 'Off the Beat' which visited 18 cities in 10 countries!

I.M. is a Fashion Icon and in 2023, the replica of the jacket he wore on MONSTA X's The Connect World Tour was presented at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds exhibition, "The Art of Performance", which presented art pieces previously worn by international stars including Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe, Elton John, and Lady Gaga. In June 2021, I.M became the new model for Versace's Eros Fragrance perfume through the Korean fashion, beauty, and life magazine Singles. In July, he took part in Pepsi's "Taste of Korea" summer campaign with Rain, Monsta X members' Shownu and Hyungwon, Brave Girls members' Yujeong and Yuna, and Ateez members' Hongjoong and Yunho! In November 2023, I.M collaborated with the English football and rugby sportswear brand Umbro, promoting its 2023 F/W collection through the men's magazine Esquire Korea.

I.M. is also a philanthropist, and in January, 2022, he donated ₩500,000 to the idol fandom community service My Favorite Idol in support of the disabled who were isolated during COVID-19!
