As for Afonja of Ilorin, he wanted self-government and decided to enlist the Fulani to fight on his behalf so that the Oyo Empire would no longer rule over his territory. It is similar to what your fathers did when they no longer wanted to remain part of Nigeria.

I hope you understand the calamity that eventually befell your fathers was similar to that of Afonja. The Fulani forces he trusted later turned against him, took control of his territory, and defeated his relatively small army.

Since you claim to know history, show me where the Oyo Empire was invaded and defeated in its entirety. If you want to refer to the Yoruba as a nation, then the Oyo Empire is a very important part of Yoruba history, heritage, and ancestral lineage.

I have two questions for you:

Question 1: If it is true that you held the Nigerian Army back from invading your land, why did your fathers eventually surrender and agree to a ceasefire? A winner would not surrender.

Question 2: The Benin women you claim invaded Yorubaland—did they actually reach the Oyo Empire? And do you know how they were stopped from returning to the Yoruba settlements they had invaded?

For the sake of enlightenment, they were stopped by a single warrior who had trained the people living in the settlement in the art of defence.
