Nineteen graduates left Ibadan to serve Nigeria. On Independence Day, gunmen took them off the Owerri–Onitsha road at Umunoha and marched them into the bush. Families were later shown a video of them sitting on the ground, crying, and told the price is ₦50 million each. That is ₦950 million for people who have not even collected their first allawee. This is not an isolated crime. It is what happens when we keep sending batches of young people down the same highways, on the same dates, into the same corridors.
Tbh, it’s really disturbing how quickly some of us turn incidents like this into a lecture for the victims.
Corps members were kidnapped, and the conversation has somehow become "why did they travel by road?"
Hello??
Almost 48hrs later, not a single tweet from the President / Presidency concerning the 20+ NYSC Members who were kidnapped on their way to camp. Instead the president is advertising National Youth Confab.
When will Nigerians feel safe in their own country?
