You're gonna have rough nights. Your shadow's gonna sneak up on you sometimes. Your sh*t's gonna come out sideways.
It happens.
It doesn't mean you're failing or a failure.
It doesn't mean you're unloving or unloved.
Bad nights are bad nights. No more. No less.
Breathe.
We’re not going to get better without challenging the thoughts, beliefs, & behaviors that were programmed into us during times of desperation, dissociation, and pain.
Being sad, but having to keep functioning, can be exhausting-- and it's the kind of exhaustion many people don't feel they can acknowledge or talk about.
There are secretly exhausted people around you right now. I guarantee you know someone who struggles to make it through.
Losses and changes like breakups or job losses can be sad, hurtful, confusing.
But continuing on in a situation that is harming you can chip away at your soul for years. Sometimes decades.
Choose the pain that'll open up some possibilities-- not the pain that keeps you stuck.

I agree it has to happen sometime. I mean, they can’t keep ignoring or playing Daniel’s trauma for a joke forever, can they?

Yeah, "the past is the past"-- & we'd LOVE to LEAVE the past in the past.
That's hard when the past FEELS literally ALIVE inside you in the form of reflexes & reactions that jerk you around like a marionette.
Trust me: survivors want NOTHING MORE than to "get on with life."
