GPOC, OVL’s JV in South Sudan has reached a commendable milestone of sustained production of 50,000 BOPD. Despite facing a series of formidable challenges, including prolonged shutdowns, civil disturbances, logistical hurdles of pipeline transportation, and severe flooding, GPOC successfully resumed production in August 2018.
Notably, amidst these adversities, GPOC managed to initiate drilling operations in November 2022 for the first infill well in the history of GPOC after South Sudan's formation, achieving the completion of nine wells within a span of just seven months.
The crowning achievement came on October 3rd, when operator achieved a remarkable production rate of 50,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD). This milestone is particularly significant, given the extraordinary flood conditions that the operator had to contend with.
This success can be attributed to the unwavering dedication and resilience of team GPOC, supported by secondees who were assigned to the project. The consistent backing from the country office and OVL HQ team also played a pivotal role in navigating and mitigating the challenges that arose.

Congratulations to the entire team at OVL JV in Colombia MECL for their remarkable achievement! By implementing an infill wells drilling campaign, conducting workovers, and effectively managing a 75-year-old mature field, they have surpassed expectations by achieving the highest production level in the last 35 years. Producing over 4000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) is no small feat, especially in a field operating with a challenging 90% water cut.
