🚨 At Socialism 2026, Georgetown professor Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò says that when he takes off his “commie hat” and puts on his “normie hat,” even he struggles to make police abolition sound convincing.

He recalls young people in Los Angeles who had been “on the wrong side of law enforcement” telling him that if police disappeared, "that's crazy" and “shit would go left immediately.”

Táíwò’s response is remarkable. Even if abolishing the police immediately proved disastrous, he says that still would not make abolition as the ultimate goal wrong.

“Even if that’s true, that doesn’t mean abolition as the horizon isn’t true.”

Táíwò admits the real problem is explaining what happens next week, rather than offering people “the long march towards dialectical materialism.”

As Táíwò struggles to explain what comes next, NYU professor Chenjerai Kumanyika jumps in with the ideological lifeline, “The answer is revolution.”

Academia has become a cesspool for identity politics, they are doing their best to kill class analysis and class worldview. One should expect these people to put "capitalist" before settler colonialism, not white, but apparently everyone's got a career to keep.

🚨 Socialism 2026 Panel Debates Whether “Settler Colonialism” Is Too Imprecise and Needs to Be “White Settler Colonialism”

At Socialism 2026’s “Ocean Deep Solidarity: Reparations, LANDBACK, and Collective Liberation” panel, Raven Schwam-Curtis invokes @UVA professor Tiffany King for some galaxy-brain theorizing over whether “settler colonialism” is simply too imprecise.

The argument is that Black people and white settlers should not be treated as structurally equivalent in relation to Indigenous dispossession, so perhaps the more precise term is “white settler colonialism.”

And yes, Tiffany King is one of my “favorite” radical professors, so I was delighted to see her get a shoutout.

Disabled people have motives and interests (more than most) for their issues not to be zoned in a culture or sports war, these people need to have labor representation, they need to have free healthcare, they need to feel that loved ones won't be hindered by their disability.

The main worry of disabled people (not just leftists) is that they have become discarded productive force and seen as liability, therefore cannot feed themselves nor their families, I doubt the "who's better" question is high on their priority list, but yes, you are correct.

Any movement should include and internally empower disabled workers of any kind, this is not up for debate. But disabled people feel disabled and peripheral because they are alienated and exploited economically as workers, not because art, music and culture don't prioritize them

🚨 “The More Dysgenic, the Better”: Beatrice Adler-Bolton Says the Left Must Give Up the “Fantasy of Being Fitter Than the Fascists”

At Socialism 2026, Adler-Bolton argues that “fitness is a measure of relative disposability under capitalism” and says the goal should not be to become “more useful to the ruling order.”

She says the left should not try to beat fascists “at their own game” by becoming “fitter, more eugenic.”

“In fact, the more dysgenic, the better, I think.”

She closes by arguing that revolution is not “a contest between optimized and properly prepared bodies” and that the very idea is itself fascist.

It stands to reason that a handicapped worker worries much more significantly about not being able to feed themselves (and their family) because capitalists think they are useless than they worries about not being included in some gym ergonomics, arguing otherwise is insulting.

@VincentGeloso To abstract slave labor away from the violent reality of its historical extraction simply ignores how capital that founded the "free" industry that came later actually accumulated in the real world. even back then the southern cotton export fuded the northern shipping and banks.

@VincentGeloso Is your counterfactual wrong? no, slavery does not add a big value compared to industry that came later, but the actual economic history argues that 18-19th century USA had bigger economic powerhouse than many, and the cotton slaves picked was the USA's #1 export despite it all.

Naive performative liberals raging over data centers think that the their battle with data centers will end with their victory, when in fact all they get is that it's removed out of their sight and (like most of the dirty parts of production) will be offshored to global south.
