CHINA revoked or suspended 12,200 undergraduate degree programs (majors) between 2021 and 2025, while simultaneously introducing about 10,200 new programs. More than 30% of university programs were adjusted during this period.

What was cut?

The reductions were concentrated in:

Humanities
Foreign languages
Management

These fields were viewed as oversupplied or offering weaker employment prospects.

What was added?

China introduced more programs in:

Artificial Intelligence
Robotics
Data Science
Advanced Manufacturing
Embodied Intelligence
