As a house officer then, I will be passing by the Labour ward threatre and sometimes the women will grab me and beg for painkillers, I give immediately, that's the teaching if your patient is in pain relieve the pain ....
When I gave birth, I understood why the women were grabbing me, I woke up in intense pain after my CS delivery, asked the nurse for painkillers and she refused said I should bear the pain for the next 4 hours when I will be due for another pain meds, I told her I was in pain now and she said I should sleep, how I wan take sleep when I feel like I was hit by a truck... I remember my BP going to 200/130mmhg and they were panicking, giving me hydralazine meanwhile Na pain wan finish me.... When painkillers were give, my BP came down... It was a terrible experience.... I'm a Doctor oh, imagine what other women would be going through....
