I’m gonna chime in here on “shilling” with my 2 cents.

First, I’ve never been paid a cent by anyone (I would take the money, SOMEONE PLEASE PAY ME, more on that later).

I have been sent free things, but never for a “review”. More like “hey we appreciate what you do, here is a thing we make. We want your feedback, no obligations”.

Outside of that, at most I get a discount of a few % and pay for everything myself.

The pushback on sponsorships and paid reviews is retarded. Having worked for Dirty Civilian as a paid contractor, I can tell you there is NO WAY for that kind of content to exist without sponsors.

Those guys are putting in 60-80 hours a week. There are 4 families that rely on the channel for their main source of income. It’s incredibly hard work and YT ad revenue is lacking and fickle.

It’s very important that sponsors be brands that are already in use, and that are aligned with from a moral and product perspective. You are responsible for who you advertise for to your following.

Capitalism is good. Greed is not. There is a right way and wrong way to do it.
