Running into an @OnboardGlobal user at a café in Mauritius wasn’t on my bingo card last week

When in Mauritius, I mostly work from neighbourhood cafés and while at one of them, a random conversation about their POS system somehow led to me recommending Onboard to the baristas (as I'm usually prone to doing 😅).

To my surprise, Daniel, one of the baristas, pulls out his phone and shows me his Onboard app. He uses it to easily spend money he receives from abroad: he receives stablecoins, funds his Onboard card and makes day-to-day payments with Apple Pay.

These days, most of my interactions with Onboard users happen through planned discovery calls, product feedback and support issues. Meeting a user randomly was a nice reminder of the impact something we’ve built has on someone’s everyday life.

Of course, I had to get a selfie. I was just a bit too excited 😂

Super excited to lead Onboard as we enter this next chapter.

I joined Nestcoin in November 2022, at a defining moment for the company and the wider industry. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work across different parts of the business, lead key initiatives, and learn alongside an incredibly talented team.

Looking at where Onboard is today makes that journey even more meaningful. The adaptability, resilience and strength of the team, and the culture Yele built, have been instrumental in getting us here.

I’m grateful to @YeleBademosi for his leadership, conviction and the foundation he has created. I’m excited to build on that as he steps into the role of Chairman.

There’s a lot ahead of us. We’re going to keep building boldly, expanding what Onboard can do for consumers and businesses across emerging markets.
