Ok, this is going to be a long one…
Firstly, I don’t know if it helps, but please know that I’m extremely proud of you. It genuinely makes me happy to see how much you’ve grown since you started out as a BGB, nearly two years ago!! Now you have two apps with actual users. That’s a real achievement!
I hear you when you say you’re not getting the support you need. That can absolutely lead to burnout. I know because it happened to me too. But keep in mind that no ecosystem has really figured out how to support the early stage builders properly. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t speak up. They need to know where they fell short so they can learn from their mistakes.
Here are a few suggestions that might help in the meantime:
1. Try to shift your mindset toward non-attachment. Nobody owes us anything. This is the quote I turn to when I’m in the same headspace you’re in right now: “Nurture your goals like a tree. Care deeply for its growth, but don’t depend on the fruit. Nothing truly belongs to you, no matter how much of yourself you invest in it.”
2. Remember that you’re still at the very beginning of your builder journey. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Even experienced builders who have been around for years still change direction, iterate, sunset products, completely shift strategies. That’s part of building.
3. Don’t be afraid to take breaks. This whole industry has a way of pushing people to their limits. Overworking is romanticized and it constantly feels like you’re missing out on the next opportunity, but if you burn out, none of it really matters.
4. Instead of max speed optimize for max community. What many people don’t realize is that “build fast, break things” only works for code. When it comes to human systems, it often breaks trust and reputation. Those are much harder to repair than code.
Keep being a great steward. Stick with that wonderful builder community on Farcaster, so you can “build together, go further.”
