If Barcelona is truly where Julian wants to be, then he has made his position very clear. His relationship with both Atletico and Simeone now appears completely broken, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to see how he continues at the club.

At this point, Atletico should take the hint. Keeping a €100M player on high wages when he doesn't want to be there helps nobody. If his mind is already made up, the best solution is to let him leave for his desired destination.

I honestly feel for Balde, but he’s had his chances for years and hasn’t improved enough. Now there’s genuine competition, and Espart is giving Flick every reason to trust him. He’s making mature decisions, knowing when to attack, pass, defend, shoot or simply hold the ball.

Balde also didn’t look happy when Cancelo came on, similar to his reaction when Cancelo got his first assist last season. He’s been the first choice for years without much competition, so perhaps this is exactly what he needed.

I’m not against Balde staying, but if he genuinely wants his starting spot back, he has to work for it and earn Flick’s trust again. You can’t blame the coach for choosing the player who is performing better.”
