On 16th February 2022, Kenya reached a significant milestone in combating emerging zoonotic diseases by launching three One Health Strategic documents. Led by @Nanyingih since 2019, the plans aim to strengthen #OneHealth approaches in Kenya. https://t.co/8h9OeeJmWV
The project will establish the basis for an integrated system that allows the early detection of diseases in livestock, which may threaten human health.
The Laboratory will continue to be used by the Faculty of the University of Nairobi @uonbi in implementing a range projects, working closely with the UK and other international partners.
The Laboratory has been funded through the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) with funding from UKAID. It was awarded Ksh1.1 billion to improve the health and wealth of people in the Horn of Africa by increasing local capacity to undertake One Health research.
The refurbishment & equipping of the laboratory was a collaboration between University of Liverpool & @uonbi - a key example of strengthening the One Health Research Capacity within the Horn of Africa.
🇬🇧 Deputy High Commissioner launched the newly refurbished One Health Veterinary Laboratory in Oloitoktok, Kajiado. Supported by @UKRI_News, the project works on the concept that the health & well-being of people is linked to the health of their animals and the environment.
