"Call for renewed focus on anniversary of of animal welfare law" writes @ScottishLegal News

39 animal protection organisations have come together to call for change in Scotland.

Led by The Animal Law Foundation and the @LeagueACS, a joint letter to the Scottish Government urges action to put animals back at the heart of the Animal Health and Welfare Act.

Supported by groups including @onekindtweet, @ciwf, @BornFreeFDN and the @ScottishSPCA, the message is clear: the law is not working as it should.

20 years on from the enactment Animal Health and Welfare Act 2006, weaknesses in its interpretation and enforcement mean animals are paying the price.

It’s time for a reset.
