The earlier events in the daylight on the banks of the Seine #ParisOlympics illustrated what we theatre lovers know: You can’t have a spectacle without lighting. Much better now the lasers are projecting through the darkness. #openingceremony

Slave Play. Was I shocked by the sex, racist language and Kit Harington with his kit off? No, but I did find it funny, provocative and flawed. Warning: my review is full of spoilers. You can read it here https://t.co/bR4aFrVXId or watch it on YouTube https://t.co/l6KJXcPtEO

I see Guys And Dolls will finally end its marathon run @_bridgetheatre and Nicholas Hytner will resume directing there with a production of Richard II. Jonathan Bailey will star. Good choice- he’s been terrific every time I’ve seen him on stage. Note to self: must see G&D again.

Does the TV legend Boys From The Blackstuff work as a theatre show? Here’s my review in writing https://t.co/29NAv6NEo4 and on YouTube https://t.co/KWINVDapV8
Last night I was at the gala opening of Boys From The Blackstuff at the Garrick Theatre. Great to see the wonderful Jenny Seagrove among the celebrities. This was the last show her partner Bill Kenwright worked on. His passion for theatre is greatly missed @BlackstuffStage
Next week I’ll be reviewing the first night of Boys From The Blackstuff at the Garrick. Since it’s already been covered by critics when it opened at the National Theatre and before that at Liverpool’s Royal Court, I may be the only critic there!
