Language is more than words. 💬 For Dalia, a Syrian refugee teacher, learning Kurdish through UNHCR support has allowed her to empower both local & refugee students in Kurdistan 📚 How? Read her story 👇 https://t.co/GyaFXA5yb8
$ 18 mio, this is what we need to fund our education & health projects this year.
Not much & yet we have not received a penny.
Kids in schools
+
healthy populations
=
a promising future for all.
Not the time to forget @Kurdistan & Syrian refugees.

After heavy rains in Kurdistan, @EvanGabro’s Ministry of Displacement immediately sent a team to evaluate the damage & replace tents in Hassansham camps.
@JccKrg & @UNHCRIraq joined forces with them.
As we always advocated, camps are never a dignified solution to displacement…
Major breakthrough thanks to @UNHCRIraq’s relentless advocacy
@IraqiGovt Min of Education now agrees that refugee children be enrolled in public schools in Federal Iraq even if their parents do not have national residency documents as refugees
🤲
Access to education is for all
🪧 problem tree
🪧 theory of change
🪧 multi year plan
Goral: refugees are included in public services of @Kurdistan & @IraqiGovt + economically self reliant + protected through residency + access asylum guaranteed
Success for @UNHCRIraq would be if we are not needed anymore!
Most countries accept refugee kids in their public schools.
⭐️ good!
@Kurdistan Min of Education hired qualified refugee teachers.
🌟 much better!
Refugee teachers get a job to teach refugee & local students alike, thus reinforcing social cohesion.
🌍 Four years after the Global Compact for Refugees, nearly half of the world’s refugee children are still out of school. Access to education is not a luxury, but a right. As we approach the GRF, let's rally to close the education gap. Every child deserves a chance. 📚 #RefugeeEd
I repeat my call for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Middle East, the unconditional release of all hostages, and the delivery of life-saving supplies at the scale needed.
Everyone must assume their responsibilities.
This is a moment of truth.
History will judge us all.
The numbers in the #GlobalTrends Mid-Year report reveal a human tragedy.
We must act now to find solutions for those who were #ForcedToFlee all over the world.

We just released our annual Education Report. Of the world’s 14.8 million school-aged refugees, 51% are not in school.
No doubt progress is being made, but not enough. More refugee learners can’t miss out on education. It’s too important to the future.

Check the results of Hozan, a Syrian refugee student in grade 9 in Sulaymaniyah in the Iraqi Kurdistan.
98.33% GPA.
He even scored 100% in Kurdish.
Make sure refugee children go to public schools as even with language barriers, they often perform beyond anyone’s expectations!
Refugee children are now able to learn in public schools up to grade five 🎉 More and more Syrian refugee children and Kurdish Iraqi students are learning together 👨🏽🎓👩🏽🎓 Thank you @Kurdistan
