Knowledge and delivery is key but you must have a good grasp of the following:
1. People: Never take the following people for granted; Your Clients, Staff and Vendors. Your clients will be your greatest advocates while your Staff are your ambassadors. Your vendors can give you credit lines running to millions. Cherish the relationship and treat them nicely.
2. Location is paramount. Avoid the temptation of jumping on the first shop you see. Spend an evening to check foot-drops around your potential location and also look for crowd pullers like hotels, Lounges, Supermarkets and places of worship.
3. Remember, businesses exist not to make profit. The sole aim of any business is to attract and retain Customers. Profit is only an Indicator of how well you do that. Have your customer retention strategies clearly outlined and ensure everyone in your organization is on board.
4. Lastly, donβt work in isolation. You need a mentor and a community of like minds where best practices are shared.
I wish you luck.
