@soffes@BewhiskeredBard I typically lean conservative and most conservatives I know would agree with those statements, which I hope is encouraging. I loved seeing this positive back and forth, we need more peaceful disagreements and constructive discourse this year!

I know I say this often, but I recommend the book, “Leadership and Self Deception”.
It goes over a lot about how to communicate effectively and how to hear and be heard.
I’m reading it again because it is easy to forget.
@iliketomakestuf In the wise words of someone I saw on Instagram, “nothing anyone can say will do good by everyone, nothing will be complete and enough”. I appreciate what you said and we’re talking to our kids about descrimination and racism as well. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

There have been several tweets that help me see what it means to be feared, hated, and judged purely by the color of your skin. It is eye opening and changes how I think.
Thank you to those sharing in a way that invites understanding and change.
@itsscottwilder Thanks, I also found this interesting article that links to sources for their claims, which I always like (too many articles say “studies have shown” without referencing the study) https://t.co/BzqY8fzxBU
I’ll be honest, I don’t know what to think. Everyone seems angry and I never want to side with angry people. With COVID-19, media often contradicts other media about the same data while somehow still being in line with their audience’s existing views. I just want information.
@itsscottwilder Are there numbers for total deaths last year at this time and how many more are dying from C19? I think that would help since I don’t know if 770 deaths is big or small, and was yesterday average, heavy, or light? Is there a CDC dataset for all this?
Missing #SPC20 but excited for virtual community events starting this week. SharePint is always a fun part of these so I made some home brew + labels.

@MattWhitmanTMBH It’s ok, you’re allowed to be happy for fewer deaths at least once per year (or per 5 years, the numbers aren’t solid yet).
Thanks for sharing, stay safe, wear a mask, may the force be with you, and may the odds be ever in your favor (for fishing).
@JMW No really, it’s cool, we can collectively be safer as long as we give up privacy, liberty, and fully trust our government to decide what’s best for us... 🙄 And yes, you are right, this is definitely not a partisan issue.
But really, there’s a difference between communicating to help or improve people’s decision making and to offend or virtue signal. There’s a way to communicate that invites listening and invites change. Being rude to people you disagree with invites them to get defensive.
