Heaven forbid someone get ol' reliable off the food menu that they'll know they'll like rather than someone new that doesn't really peak their interest yet.
Enjoy the tech you wanna enjoy
@PrinceArchieFox That would require me getting a job before moving which is unrealistic given how far away I am so it wasn’t a priority until later on perhaps
Internally it might sounds like a “downgrade” from New Zealand but when you realise here the currency is worse, the flight times to see friends is 24+ hours, flights are also 4 digit $ and jobs pay like shit compared to the UK, it’s an upgrade for me socially and career wise.
@TheSamiyed As someone also born in the uk-
Doesn't have to be permanent for me but the point is that it's a stepping stone of moving from Oceania back to the rest of the world iykwim :>
I'd rather be 2 hours from friends than 20 hours.
@PrinceArchieFox While day to day might be higher, the fact it’s double digit figures to go to Europe and triple digits to go to USA competitive to the always multi 4 digit price tags normally, everything else socially and digitally will be better there + social well being is better with friends
@PrinceArchieFox Yes I have quite a few. Also the “shit pay” context changes when you realise you have £1 = $2.20nzd at the moment so, it’s just straight up better being there regardless.
The cost of the hobbies I wish to do will be cheaper and offset by the fact I’m not 14k km away
@suwuicidaldog Internally it might feel like that but when you realise here the currency is worse, the flight times to see friends is 24+ hours, flights are also 4 digit $ and jobs pay like shit compared to the UK, it’s an upgrade for me
